王宏江和他的画

  王宏江先生是我国当代杰出的画家、社会活动家,几十年来辛勤耕耘,艺术造诣高深,为振兴中华民族的绘画艺术,以及中国画的继承和发展作出了突出贡献。
  在现实生活中,王宏江为人诚恳,朴实无华,对自己要求严格,对艺术执着追求,默默耕耘,其人品画品都达到了很高的境界。对王宏江特殊生活经历和艺术经历的了解和研究,不仅对了解其人,而且对理解其画,都是必不可少的。
  王宏江的花鸟、人物、山水画吸取了西方现代派的艺术精华,把装饰画中的某些要素化解到彩墨画的美妙构成中,使他在作品经营中体现出一种新的审美观。这是他的高妙之处,也是他突破原有创作模式,树立个性的成功之处。
  宏江先生画的寿桃,栩栩如生,鲜艳至极,而枝叶乃以金石意味十足的线条为表达语言,从而使整个画面在线与色的交融中充满了活力、生机,具有了非凡的力度美。他笔下的寿桃,来源于浓厚的生活,并巧妙地与神话传说相结合。这种源于生活又高于生活的艺术表现,充满了自然气息。寿桃的画法,一改前人的勾勒添色,泼墨运笔,而充分运用了水、色的功能,使桃形明暗得体,画面别具一格,达到了理想的艺术效果,给人以全新的感受。
  宏江先生继承并发展了中国画传统中的装饰性特点,把荷花的自然形态加以提炼加工,代之以更典型的圆形和扇形,荷叶、荷花的饱满形态与几乎呈线形的草苇叶形成线与面的对比,使画面错落有致,表现了两种植物的不同质感。在画面中小翠鸟可谓是点睛之笔,静物中配以动物增加了画面的生动感。画作以率意的线条为骨骼,设色艳丽,浑厚而凝重,与传统的工笔画设色方法拉开了距离,加以布局构思的别出心裁,使画面的意境高古而隽永,具有强烈的艺术感染力。
  宏江先生的《古色古香》,其笔墨线条,比历代意笔花鸟家之同类题材的艺术语言更为精练,更为概括,也更为朴拙,更为厚重有力。传统笔墨经过其新的艺术提炼加工之后,更为纯化、强化和简化。他画的《十分春色》,花朵丰润饱满,枝叶勃勃郁发,传神地表达出牡丹的雍容气质。画作《胜似春光》、《烽火年代》、《瑰丽家园》、《花鸟四条屏》、《硕果飘香》、《紫气东来》、《春来了》、《高风亮节》等,用传统绘画从没有用过的西方之平面构图的抽象或装饰手法,突出强烈浓厚的色块对比。即使是充满激情的革命题材和乡土题材的作品,也从没有过这样的表现形式。装饰性的造型构成突破了传统花鸟创作的窠臼,变形的小鸟更增添了画面的情趣,整个画面给人一种全新语言的感觉,充分体现了他创作风格的成熟和个性语言的确定。
  王宏江画的动物,是将中国传统水墨及现代装饰,民间艺术和西方立体表现主义三种风格合而为一的产物,从而产生出一种独特的韵味。传统水墨和民间艺术看上去憨厚、吉祥,立体表现的手法则使动物更为丰满。中国画现代化的趋势就是多种风格的互相融合,互相借鉴。他的动物不但具有现代感,而且把中华民族对动物的认识也表现得淋漓尽致。
  宏江先生画山水以勾勒加泼彩,笔畅彩酣,挥洒任情。他以超然于物外的自由心态,无所拘束地表现对自然的感悟或印象。一切随机生发,浑然天成,妙趣横生,画面笔墨景致奇幽酣畅,古艳壮美,气势雄伟,使画面同时具有中国传统文人画的笔墨情趣和西方现代抽象意味的装饰美,从而在绘画的创作方法上有了新的突破。
王宏江的艺术成就及其艺术特点,是多方面的,但是,就其主要方面而言,一是在民族绘画传统及其他艺术语言方面的继承变革和超然发展;二是在民间美术乃至农民画中得到启发,对夸张之美学精神,及其色彩浓郁、单纯等艺术特色的吸收和升华;三是对民间绘画的造型方法和色彩的装饰趣味的吸取 ;四是对西画和现代装饰画艺术形式及现代艺术技法的勇于借鉴等。综合来看,他的作品装饰性强,既有民族、民间绘画艺术传统之精华,又有很强的现代精神、时代风貌以及鲜明的艺术个性,具有鲜明、独特的个人艺术面貌。

            Wang Hongjiang and His painting
  Hongjiang Wang, an outstanding contemporary painter and socialist, makes great contribution to the inheritance and development of Chinese painting through years of hardworking and his profound artistic attainments.
  Cordiality and simplicity are what Wang Hongjiang like in real life. Both he and his paintings’ characters achieve marvelous attainments through rigid self-disciplines, perseverance, and painstaking efforts. The acquaintance and research of Hongjiang Wang's particular life and artistic experience play an irreplaceable role in comprehending him and his painting.
  Absorbing the essence of western painting on flowers and birds, animals, characters, and landscape as well as incorporating some elements from adornment picture to Color Ink Painting, he reflects a new aesthetic conception in his works. It is where his ingeniousness lies, and the reason leading to his successful attempt of breaking the bond of original creation mode and presenting his own personality.
  The peach painted by Hongjiang is lifelike and bright-colored, while the branches are expressed by lines of golden stone, filling the picture with vitality, vigor, and magnificent strength with the blending of lines and colors. The peach which is based on rich life experience is skillfully integrated into myths and legend. This artistic expression which comes from life but higher than life is full of natural flavor. In his painting of peaches, he exchanges previous mode or outline, adds color, and makes full use of ink brush, water, and color. The peach is thus rendered in a proper and unique fashion. Therefore, the ideal artistic effect is achieved, enabling people to have a refreshing experience.
  Hong Jiang inherited and developed the decorative features in Chinese traditional paintings. The natural form of lotus which is refined and processed is replaced by the more typical round and fan-shaped one; full formed lotus, leaf, and line-shaped reed contrast with each other, which leading to picturing patchwork and representing two different features of plants. The small kingfisher in drawing can be called “the finishing touch”. The dynamic feel is added to painting by the presence of active combined with inactive. The leisurely-painted lines serve as the bone of painting, which is bright, vigorous, dignified, and different from traditional method. The brilliant layout makes the artistic conception ancient and timeless with a strong artistic infection power.
  The ink lines in painting of “Antique Flavor” are more refined, generalized, simple, and dignified than that of paintings with same theme in history. The ink lines are purified, strengthened, and simplified by new artistic refining and polishing skills. In “Spring”,blooming flowers and vigorous foliage vividly express the grace of peony-like temperament. Abstract or decorative techniques of western graphic composition which have never been used are applied in paintings such as spring, War Years, Magnificent Homes, Flowers and Birds Four Screens, Fruit Fragrance, Purple Air from the East, Spring is Coming, and Noble Character and Sterling Integrity etc. It highlights the contrast of different color blocks. Even in painting being themed with passionate revolution and hometown, no such performance form has been presented. Decorative modeling frees itself from the tradition of flowers and birds creation. Deformed birds add more fun to the picture. The whole picture is expressing in a brand-new language which embodies his maturity of creation style and identification of his individual language.
  The animals in Hongjiang Wang's painting which shows unique flavor are outcomes of combination of Chinese traditional ink, modern decoration, folk art, and western dimensional expressionism. Traditional ink painting and folk art look simple, honest, and auspicious, while dimensional expressionism makes animals more plentiful. The trend of Chinese modern painting is a fusion of many styles in which each of them learns from each other. His animal paintings show not only modernism but also the complete understanding of the Chinese nation towards animals.
  In addition to outlining, splash is used in Hongjiang's landscapes painting by means of smoothness and freedom. He expresses his sentiment and impression toward nature with his detached and free attitude. Being random, natural, fun, smooth, gorgeous, and splendid, the stroke in picture makes painting full of style of Chinese traditional ink paintings, taste, and beauty of modern Western abstract paintings, resulting in breakthroughs in painting skills.
  Hongjiang Wang’s artistic achievements and artistic features are multi-faceted. To sum up, firstly, it lies in the inheritance and development of national tradition of painting and other artistic language. Secondly, it lies in the absorbency and sublimation of strong color and purity as well as the spirit of exaggeration enlightened by folk painting and farmer painting. Thirdly, it lies in his absorbency of modeling approach and decoration fun of folk painting. Fourthly, it lies in his bold learning from techniques of western painting and modern adornment art. To put it in a nutshell, the decoration features of his works strongly present essence of nation, folk tradition, modernism, spirit of the era, and distinctive artistic personality, which have distinctive, unique personal artistic styles.
